School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCBE) is seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual who is committed in developing bio-based solution to solve plastic waste problem. He/She will be part of a team that is responsible for creating synthetic biology tools to engineer cellulose-producing bacteria to up-cycle PET plastic waste. He/She will be working directly with a Research Fellow. The research position is available in a collaborative project funded by National Research Foundation under the Competitive Research Program. The Program consists of research groups from NTU, A*STAR, and NUS with regular monthly meetings.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with microfluidic systems and cellulose producing bacteria for the production of key intermediates to increase cellulose production.
- Plan and execute the experiments with to achieve the set goals.
- Assist other senior staff members as required.
- Record the outcome of experiments, analyze data, and present data for scientific communications.
- Write reports to summarize the findings of the project.
- Assist general lab administrative work (purchasing, finance, lab safety)

Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree in biotechnology, bioengineering, molecular biology, biological science, biochemistry or a related field
- Has good knowledge of analytical tools and microfluidic chip preparation
- Experience with cellulose producing bacteria is desirable but not mandatory
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a research team
