Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) or ARC(S), is a not-for-profit charity based in Singapore. ARC(S) is dedicated to serving children and adults on the autism spectrum, to help these individuals lead meaningful and independent lives in society. ARC (S) offers a wide range of services, including the Employability and Employment Centre (E2C).

The Employability and Employment Centre (E2C) is the first autism-focused centre that offers services to enable adults with autism to perform successfully in the workplace. It also offers services for employers who are interested in hiring people with autism in their companies.

The Team:

The team is responsible to train and support individuals with autism to find employment and thrive in areas that match their strengths and interests. This will enable them to earn a monthly salary and contribute to society and find a job that matches their learning style and is meaningful to them.

Your Impact and Contribution:

Job Purpose

  • To train our clients (youths and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder) with employability skills needed for IT-related as well as non-IT related jobs.

Conduct site assessment

  • Conduct assessments
  • Observe and Identify employability strengths and gaps

Provide Coaching

  • Observe client’s work performance at training and in jobs for identification of strengths and gaps
  • Analyze the reasons for performance and inclusion gaps, developing coaching plans and coaching clients to close employability gaps
  • Provide coaching in employability hard and soft skills; using autism friendly strategies

Collaboration with Employers and Key Stakeholders

  • Liaise and collaborate with employers to understand and analyse the jobscope and responsibilities of clients
  • Identify and Implement workplace supports for clients
  • Perform job shadowing of new responsibilities assigned to clients
  • Engage employers to support and sustain clients’ work performance

Reporting Updates

  • Document updates on training/coaching progress to different stakeholders

Requirements

  • Preferably Advance Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Social work, Psychology, Counselling, Sociology, Health Services, Education, or related field.
  • Able to travel to offsite work locations, i.e. employer work sites, with possibility of more than one location a day
  • Communicate with external employers and stakeholders
  • Team player, able to work effectively in a team
  • Mature and resilient with good coping mechanisms
  • Ability to adapt to diverse people and environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
  • Strong desire to learn about Autism and the passion to help special needs individuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
