The Company

Our client is an emerging mining producer, listed on the ASX with international operations and significant growth forecast for 2023. With this growth, the finance function is expanding to include a Group Financial Controller – a newly created position, this is a great role for a senior first mover from a chartered firm or a second mover looking to establish a career in Mining.

About the role:

The Group Financial Controller will join our corporate team based in Brisbane. The role will coordinate the Group consolidation and Reporting activities, as well as managing relationships with compliance advisors and key business stakeholders.

An overview of the role will include, but is not limited to:

Compliance and Control
  • Manage the accuracy of the Australian general ledger including overseeing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Processing payroll for Australian employees each month
  • Manage the preparation of indirect tax compliance obligations in Australia
  • Assist with forecasting and managing group cash flow
  • Identifying financial processes to implement and improve across the Group
  • Develop and document business processes to ensure appropriate internal controls are adopted
  • Technical assessment of accounting standards and ensuring impacts are understood for IFRS and US GAAP reporting
  • Assist with planning towards a group ERP implementation
Reporting and Analysis
  • Preparation of monthly management reporting including coordination with international finance teams
  • Preparation of external Financial Reporting to the ASX and other US reporting requirements
  • Manage yearly external audit and half-yearly review processes and coordinate group finance team deliverables
  • Manage relationships with Australian tax and audit advisors and facilitate data sharing with international tax and audit advisors
  • Assist with Budget preparation and forecasting for the Australian business and Group
About you:
  • CPA/CA or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant experience in a senior finance role in corporate or professional services environment
  • Understanding of ASX reporting requirements
  • Ability to identify finance process improvements and make recommendations to business management
  • Strong attention to detail together with a high level of accuracy
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to engage with finance stakeholders to drive greater consistency in the global finance function
