About the Role
WMQ's Volunteer Relations team is looking for a Recruitment Officer who will be a proactive, outgoing, and organised person with a passion for recruitment and understands the difference that volunteers can make to the community. In partnership with our stakeholders and in line with our Volunteering Strategy, you will engage volunteers to assist to build on and maintain a robust infrastructure supporting our services to grow and prosper.
As part of this role you will undertake a variety of functions including but not limited to:
- Designing, writing, or updating position descriptions for volunteer roles.
- Sourcing relevant websites and organisations which specialise in recruiting volunteers.
- Advertising vacancies through specialist volunteer websites and other outlets.
- Researching sources and networks to find and contact suitable candidates for volunteer vacancies.
- Building a pool of volunteers for events and campaigns.
- Reviewing cover letters and resumes and shortlisting potential candidates and distributing accordingly.
- Maintaining a close working relationship with current team members and regularly communicating with and providing feedback on progress made.
- Maintaining relevant records in a confidential manner.
- Liaising and representing WMQ and Volunteer Relations in internal and external events as required.
- Supporting other data entry and administration as required.
You will have the ability to work remotely from home and on-site as scheduled.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Qualifications or extensive experience in the field of recruitment, human resources, or volunteer relations management.

Proven ability to expand and grow engagement in the recruitment space in line with continuous quality improvement while following legislative requirements and organisational policy, procedure, and guidelines.
- Excellent verbal skills, including comprehension, networking, negotiating, and presenting to internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Exceptional ability to produce clear positive written communication with strong attention to detail including documenting, emailing, creating and posting position descriptions and advertisements, and developing an online media presence to enhance volunteer engagement.
- Ability to efficiently use communication and recruitment-related systems including Customer Relations Management (CRM) systems, online survey tools, social media, and recruitment websites.
- Strong organisational abilities, including initiative, effective time management, and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a busy office environment.
- Strong Microsoft 365-based application skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and confidence in using remote online communication programs such as Microsoft Teams.
- Hold a current Queensland Driver’s License and willing to travel locally within the course of work.
- Proof of Vaccination Status as required by Legislation, Health Directives, or WMQ Policy throughout employment and prior to commencement.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of contemporary volunteer management practice.
