We have recently gone Agile in Strategy & Finance so that we can better prioritise our work, flow the right resources to that work, develop our people and ultimately support our business stakeholders to deliver better outcomes for our customers and our shareholders. This role sits within our Financial Management Chapter Area, a ~350 strong global team of financial professionals who provide business partnering and FP&A services to missions across the organisation.
The role with us
As a Finance Analyst, you will support the Consumer and Small Business Fixed mission. This mission plays a critical role driving financial discipline, insight, and performance within the Telstra Fixed business.
In this team, your main purpose is to collaborate with the Fixed businesses to drive financial outcomes, commercial discipline, and operational improvements. You will be responsible for:
Financial Analysis & Reporting of business performance including monthly P&L reporting and KPI tracking
Planning & Forecasting for the business
Developing and maintaining driver-based models for the purpose of assessing performance as well as informing the planning process.
Ad-hoc analysis.
Supporting the creation of “investor ready” financials
This is how you'll bring the purpose of your role to life:
Performing key cost activities in the planning, budgeting, forecasting and month end processes for fixed portfolio
Month-end activities including P&L and balance sheet management, posting of manual adjustments and preparation of reporting packs, ensuring output is of an excellent standard.
Year end and half year close requirements
Insight and analytics of business drivers and their impact on the financials.
Support team members and senior management with financial analysis and modelling to develop strategy as well as key performance indicators to achieve business initiatives and financial planning objectives
Leverage your analytical skills to undertake high-quality quantitative and qualitative analysis, to assist team members to test ideas/business hypotheses, understand issues and provide insights into key decisions.
Liaising with cross-company stakeholders to agree cost planning implications
To be successful in the role, you should have:
CA or CPA qualification or working towards
A minimum 2 years proven experience in Finance management
Experience in both management accounting – to support business partnership and technical accounting - to support accounting compliance
Desire to build leadership skills with a genuine commitment to building capabilities
Strong analytical skills with high attention to details
Proven demonstration of a growth mindset with tenacity for problem solving and willingness to seek information and appropriately challenge status quo
Passion for numbers and improving financial performance
