Seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated Structural and Civil Works Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join a global provider of rail solutions client in Oakland, CA.

The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks, from administrative to strategic.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure identification and correct allocation of structural civil works system requirements (contract and derived ones)
- Ensure identification and resolution of the technical Interfaces between Civil Works and technological Systems/subsystems and third parties;
- Ensure the application of quality procedures for the emissions of the documents at every stage of the design;
- Ensure there are no risks not assessed with respect to the safety of the works designed and compared to budgeted costs;
- Ensure the verification of the interfaces alignment and that each step is managed and properly addressed;
- Ensure the identification of critical issues in the development of the project and propose mitigation actions;
- Identify and manage Civil Work Interface with civil contractors;
- Managing a structural engineer firm in order to get the deliverables timely completed, verified and submitted to client
- Be the point of contact between Hitachi and the Client stakeholders for all the civil and structural matters
- Promptly provide solutions to construction team when site request or modification are necessary to execute the civil/structural work
- Ensure that the projects made in house or outsourced are compliant with the contract and system requirements.
- Ensure that requirements and interfaces are correctly managed according to Hitachi Rail processes.
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- 5+ years of experience in Structural Civil Works, especially developed in the area of Construction Design. Additional expertise in the railways context is considered as a plus.
Operative competencies
- Structural Civil Works in railway context: design, installation, operation and maintenance
- Principle of Railway Trackworks systems
- Technical support for contract matters;
- Requirements and Interfaces definition/consolidation and management;
- Familiar with the Requirement Traceability Matrix and the Interface Registers tools
- Design management of contractors and sub-contractor activities: contract requirements and design processes-control;

Education: Structural Civil Engineering University Degree or Equivalent Technical Background
Languages: Written and spoken English proficiency.
NOTE:
- The salary range for this position is $108,000 - $162,00 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity, and location.
- In accordance with the DOT s FRA and FTA programs, the client s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.
